Alexandr Pushkin in Moldova - places where A. Pushkin used to be
The exile years of the Great Russian poet A. Pushkin to Bessarabia are 1820-1823.
For everybody who loves A. Pushkin and his poetry we can offer a tour under the title “ Places where A. Pushkin used to be “ that includes the visit to Pushkin House-Museum that is unique, because there are only two such extant houses where the poet lived. One is in Chisinau and another – in St. Petersburg.
One of the most beautiful streets in the city bears his name. The bust of the great poet was erected in the Public Garden in the center of Chisinau.
Another nice place we advise to visit is the Dolna village where the Great Russian poet got acquainted with the culture and traditions of the Moldovan people, and became friends with the family of Ralli Arbor whose manor was located in Dolna. It is here that Pushkin met and fell in love with the beautiful gypsy girl – Zemfira and she became the prototype of Zemfira from “The Gypsies” poem. The whisper of the spring in the Codrii as well as the murmur of local doins (Moldovan songs of grief) inspired the poet to write some of his eternal poems and verses.
Nowadays the Pushkin museum is opened in the manor.
A beautiful monument to A. Pushkin is erected at the entry of museum.
The visitors can also admire the Zemfira’s spring and Zemfira’s meadow located not far from the estate.
