Jewish places in Moldova
Jews have lived for a long time on the territory of Moldova. They arrived to ancient Dacia in the 1-st century AD and were mostly living in urban areas.
The first Jewish communities were founded in 16 century and by 18 century about 22800 Jews have already lived on the territory of Moldova.
During the years of Nazi occupation the Jewish communities were destroyed.
However ,since then the communities were beginning to rebuild themselves.
And nowadays the Moldovan Society of Jewish Culture includes 10 Jewish Communities in the main cities of Moldova :
Chisinau,Beltsy,Tiraspol,Bendery,Soroca, Orhei, Cahul, Grigoriopol, Dubossari and Rybnitsa.
